Where the settings are

Most of these live on the web under Settings → Notifications. They belong to you, not your household, so they apply everywhere you're signed in and don't change anyone else's. Date reminders is the exception: it is set per household. A few live in the mobile app, noted below.

Quiet hours

Turn on Enable quiet hours, pick the From and to times (9pm to 7am to start with), check the Timezone, and tap Save.

During quiet hours nothing buzzes your phone or computer. Everything still lands in your notification feed for the morning; it just isn't pushed to your devices. Missed pushes aren't sent later, so check the bell when you wake up. The one exception is an SOS, which always comes through.

Choose which kinds you get

Under Notification Types, untick anything you don't want: Messages, Family notifications, Weekly digest, Safe-zone alerts, Low battery, Location requests, and Reminders (medication times and missed-reminder alerts). System and security notices are always delivered.

Push notifications are switched on per device. On each browser where you want them, use the button under Push Notifications. In the mobile app, use Settings → Notifications, which can also repair push if it stops arriving.

Show message text in notifications is off to start with: a notification says who wrote, not what they said, so a message isn't read out on a lock screen.

The weekly digest

Once a week, early in the week, you get a short summary of what's ahead: events, open tasks, recent messages, and anything due soon. If there's nothing to report, it isn't sent. To stop it, untick Weekly digest. In the mobile app, Settings → Weekly Digest chooses what it includes.

Mute one conversation

In Messages, open the conversation and tap the bell in its header (Mute notifications). New messages there stop notifying you, but you can still read them whenever you like. Muted conversations show a crossed-out bell in the list. Tap it again to unmute. It only affects you, and it works on the household-wide conversation too.

In the mobile app, Message Alerts under Settings turns off notifications for every conversation at once.

Mute one app

In the mobile app, open Settings → App Alerts and switch off any app whose reminders and alerts you don't want. It applies on all your devices, for the household you have open. It stops that app's emails too, date reminders included. An emergency SOS is never muted.

Mute a whole household

If you belong to more than one household or shared space, Settings → Notifications has a This household section to mute one of them completely. SOS alerts, join requests, and security notices still reach you. A shared space has its own switch to mute its everyday notifications.

Emails

Under Email, Email me about my household covers every email we send you about your household: announcements, alerts that apps send by email, and date reminders. Untick it and all of them stop. Account and security emails are always sent.

Date reminders sets how often reminder emails about birthdays, anniversaries, and other upcoming dates reach you: daily, every few days, weekly, or off. Several dates due together arrive in one email, and a date that would pass before your next email is sent sooner. This setting is for the household you have open, so set it in each household you belong to.

Every one of these emails has a link at the bottom to Settings → Notifications.
