Chickadee Bandit

A nanny in the house, and nothing of yours in view

Their own login, the children's day written down, and a handover that does not live in a text thread.

A guest, not a member

A nanny knows things about your children that you learn second-hand at six o'clock: when the last bottle was, whether the nap happened, what the doctor's office said. Most families keep that on a text thread and a whiteboard, and it lasts exactly as long as the thread does.

On Chickadee Bandit the nanny joins your household as a guest. They have their own login and see only the apps you tick, and their access lasts up to a year at a time and ends by itself, or the minute you press End now. Everything they logged stays, with their name on it. There is no seat to pay for.

Baby Log

Feeds, pumping, diapers and naps with a running sleep timer, logged in one tap under the name of whoever logged them. The nanny can end the nap you started before you left.

Shifts and the handoff

The nanny starts a shift on arrival and ends it with what was done and a note for whoever is next, which sits at the top of the log. The Shifts tab totals each person's hours for the week.

Medicines

Put the nanny on a care team and mark the medicines they give. They see those and only those, tick each dose as given, and you are told when a dose is still unticked thirty minutes late.

Allergy and doctor cards

Share each child's Health Card with the care team, and the nanny reads it in the app: the allergy, the EpiPen instructions, the doctor's number. Your own card stays with the adults.

Bedtime, your way

Write the bedtime routine once in Routines. The nanny starts a run and ticks the steps, so you can see from the train that teeth were brushed.

Messages

Open a thread with the nanny for the day-to-day. They reply in it, but do not read the household's own conversation.

What the nanny does not see

A guest is not an adult inside the apps. They see what the children see, plus what they log themselves and what you give the care team. The family conversation, the records, the location map, your own prescriptions and anything an app keeps for adults stay closed, and a guest cannot open the family tablet with a PIN.

What it costs, and what it is not

Everything here is in the household plan, $6/mo or $60/yr, alongside the calendar, chores and every other app in the library, and the nanny costs nothing extra. There are no ads, and each household keeps its own encrypted database.

It is not payroll. We do not pay the nanny, withhold or file household employment taxes, or produce a W-2; the week's hours are a timesheet, and a payroll service does the rest. Baby Log is also a simpler tracker than the specialist baby apps, with no growth charts or sleep predictions. See the apps for working with a nanny, compared by what each is for, or read the guide to working with a nanny.

Getting started

Before the first day, send three things: the guest invite, from the Nanny profile on your Guests screen; the care-team tick on each child's medicines and card; and the bedtime routine. On the first evening, read the handoff note together. After that it reads itself. For how guests work in detail, see guest access.
