Chickadee Bandit

The team, without the group chat

For the coach, the teacher and the volunteer who runs the list: tell everyone once, and know who is coming.

A roster, not a chat room

Most teams run on a group chat. The schedule change is forty messages up, half the parents have muted it, and every family's phone number is in front of every other family. The coach still texts round on Friday night to find out who is playing on Saturday.

A team space on Chickadee Bandit is a roster: you and a list of families who see you and never each other. You post once and it lands on each family's own calendar and phone. A parent can message you, and only you. Each family joins free and keeps its own household private beside it.

Announcements

Post once, with an expiry date, so last week's field change is not still at the top. It reaches each family's phone, not a thread they have muted.

The schedule

Practices and games, recurring or one-off, on each family's own calendar beside everything else they have that week.

RSVPs and attendance

Ask who is coming, see the headcount, and remind only the families who have not answered. Take the roll at practice and see who has been drifting away. Each family sees only its own record.

A link that fills the roster

Share one join link, or print the QR flyer for the sign-up table. Review each request, or add a join code and let families in automatically.

Polls and surveys

Pick the end-of-season party date with a poll, and ask the end-of-season questions with a survey whose results open when it closes.

Documents

The code of conduct, the medical form and the tournament packet, in folders every family can find, instead of an attachment from August.

What it costs, and who it fits

The coach sponsors the space and every family joins free. A Family plan ($6/mo), or the Community add-on ($30/yr) on its own, runs a roster of up to 30 members; a Group plan ($10/mo) runs rosters of 75, and Organization ($30/mo) rosters of 200, enough for a club or a whole grade.

A roster can run announcements, the calendar, RSVPs, attendance, polls, surveys and documents, eight to twelve of them at once depending on the plan. Snack and volunteer sign-up sheets, carpools and the gear closet need a space where families see each other, and that holds 8 people on the Family plan or 20 on Organization: a small team's parents, not a league. We do not collect fees or registrations online, keep game stats or live scores, or run a league's schedule. See the team and group apps we'd consider, compared by what each is for, or read the guide to running a team's season without a group chat.
