What a share link is

A share link is a private web address for a single item: a recipe, a health card, an event, a sign-up sheet. Whoever has the link can open it on any phone or computer, with nothing to install and no account to make. They see that one item and nothing else from your household.

Every link expires. Shared pages are hidden from search engines, and you can switch a link off at any time.

Create one

  1. Open the app and the item you want to share.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Choose how long it should last: 1 day, 7 days (the usual choice), or 30 days. Calendar-style items can also last 90 days or a year.
  4. Optionally add a password of at least six characters.
  5. Tap Create link and send it however you like: text, email, a group chat.

Any adult in the household can share, unless an admin has limited sharing to admins (see below). A few items are stricter: only admins can share a Health Card, and only its owner can share a Check-In Switch or a Scavenger Hunt.

Links people can respond to

Some links do more than show something. A sign-up sheet, an RSVP, a meal train, a poll, or a pet- or plant-sitting page can let the people you send it to fill in a short form. They still don't need an account. What they submit lands in your app, and the page thanks them when it's recorded.

To keep out spam, the form runs a quick automatic check that the visitor is a person. Each link takes a limited number of responses (usually 50) before it stops accepting more.

Calendar links

For a schedule, such as kids' activities, a timetable, or a trip, the shared page also offers Subscribe in your calendar and Copy calendar link. A grandparent or coach can add it to their own calendar, and it keeps itself up to date until the link expires. In Google Calendar, paste the link under From URL. Password-protected links don't offer a calendar subscription.

See and switch off your links

An admin can see every link in one place: open Settings → General and find External Sharing. The list of active and recent share links shows each link's app, how many times it's been viewed, and when it expires. Tap Revoke to stop one working immediately. For privacy the list never shows the link's address itself, so keep your own copy if you might send it again.

The same section decides who can share items with people outside the household: Any adult, Admins only, or Disabled. Choosing Disabled also stops every existing link from opening.

A link also stops working when it expires, when the app it came from is removed, or when the person who created it leaves the household. Anyone opening it then sees "This link is no longer available."
