Signal interest to your partner, and only hear back if it is mutual

Asking is the hard part, and a rejection you can see is worse than the question. So neither partner ever sees the other's signal. You tap privately; so do they; and the only thing either of you is ever told is that you both did, within the same window.

That is enforced on the server, not in the interface. The partner's raw state is never sent to your device, so there is nothing to read early and nothing to infer from a screen. When the signals overlap, the hub clears both and notifies the two of you at once.

Signals expire on their own, so a tap from Tuesday does not turn into a match on Friday.
