One page of news for everyone who keeps asking
Keep a wide circle informed from one page. Post news on a recovery, a new baby or a long stay away, share a single link, and friends and relatives read it and leave a message without an account.
What Updates does
After a surgery or a birth, the same news gets told forty times, by text, to forty people. Start a page, post an update when there is something to say, and send one link. Anyone holding it reads the page in a browser, with nothing to install and no account to make.
Each update is marked for everyone or for the family only. A family-only update, and its photos, never reach the link, so the household can keep what the surgeon said in the same place as what the cousins are told.
A link can let visitors leave a message, and the family is told when one arrives. Only the family reads the messages unless you choose to show them to visitors too, and any adult can remove one. Close the page and it stays readable but takes no more messages. Archive it and every link stops.
How it works
- A page for each thing people are following, each with its own updates, photos and links.
- Updates with a title, text and up to twelve photos.
- Each update goes to everyone with the link, or stays with the family.
- Links expire on their own, can carry a password, and can be revoked at any time.
- Visitors leave a message with only their name. No account, no app.
- A switch for whether visitors read each other's messages. It starts off.
- A message is always what the visitor typed. Adults can remove one, and nobody can write or change one.
- Adults post, edit and remove. Children read.
- In a care space, every sibling can post to the same page.
Visitors are not emailed when an update is posted. They open the link to read the latest. Visitors can leave a message but cannot attach photos. The shared page shows the newest 100 updates and up to 100 photos, and each update carries the name of the person who posted it.
