Coordinate care for a parent across siblings

Coordinate care for a loved one: a visit rotation, shared care tasks, appointment notes, and an observation log the whole care circle can see.

What Elder Care does

When adult siblings share the care of a parent, the hard part is the handoff: who is stopping by, who is calling the doctor, what did the nurse say. This app gives the care circle one place for all of it.

The observation log is the piece families say they were missing. Everyone notes what they saw, mood, appetite, medication, and the next visitor reads it before they arrive.

Each person being cared for has a profile, so two parents are kept apart: every visit, task, appointment, log entry and reading says who it is about, and one tap narrows each list to that person. Blood pressure, weight, blood sugar and the rest are recorded as numbers with a trend, and the whole record prints as one document for an appointment.

When a home aide is part of the care, invite them to your household as a guest and grant them this app. They sign in with their own login, which ends on the date you set, and land on a shift log: when they arrived and left, what was done, and a handoff note for whoever comes next. They can tick a care task and record a reading, and that is all they can change. A log entry marked family only is never sent to them.

How it works

  • A profile for each person: doctor, pharmacy, conditions, allergies, diet, mobility, and what a normal day looks like.
  • Visit rotation so no day goes uncovered.
  • Care tasks with an assignee and due date.
  • Appointments with provider, time, location, notes, and who is taking them.
  • A shared observation log the whole care circle can read.
  • Readings for blood pressure, pulse, weight, blood sugar, temperature, oxygen, sleep, appetite and pain, each with a trend.
  • One record for a doctor visit: profile, readings, log and appointments for the dates you choose, to print or save as a PDF.
  • A reading entered wrong can be corrected by whoever recorded it, or by any adult.
  • A shift log for a paid caregiver: started, ended, what was done, and a handoff note the next person reads first.
  • A guest login for that caregiver, with an end date up to a year out. They tick tasks and record readings; the profile, appointments and visit rotation are read-only for them, and the printed record is closed to them.
  • Log entries can be marked family only. Adults read them, a guest and a child never receive them, and they are left out of the printed record.
  • Adults manage entries, and everyone with the app can read them apart from family-only notes. A parent can log their own readings.

A guest login belongs to a household, so the caregiver's login is for Elder Care installed in a household: the parent's own, or the home of whoever employs the caregiver. A shared care space has no guests. Everyone in it joins as a full participant, and there 'family only' means everyone in the space. The hub treats a guest and a child alike, so a child who has this app could also tick a task or add a reading under their own name; restrict the app for a child if that matters.
