Chickadee Bandit vs. Baby Connect
For parents sharing the baby log with a nanny, a grandparent or a daycare.

Which is a better fit?
Both put every caregiver on one subscription, each with their own login, with messaging and a web app. Choose Baby Connect for the deeper tracker: growth percentiles, vaccines, temperature, charts, reports, an Apple Watch app and Alexa. Chickadee Bandit fits a household that wants the nanny on a login that ends on a date you set, seeing only the apps you grant, with a shift log and weekly hours beside the feeds and naps.
Where Baby Connect shines — and where it doesn't
Baby Connect is the baby tracker built for more than one caregiver. One subscription covers every family member and caregiver, with no limit on how many link to a child; each signs in with their own account, and caregivers can exchange messages. It tracks far more than our log does, and it runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch and the web.
Where we differ is the nanny's side of the job. Baby Connect's pages describe no shift or hours log and no way to time-limit a caregiver. Chickadee Bandit's Baby Log is one app in a household hub, and a nanny joins that household as a guest whose access ends by itself.
Side by side
| Baby Connect | Chickadee Bandit | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Not published on its site. Its App Store listing shows a Family plan, up to 5 children, at $29.99 for six months or $49.99 a year, plus a $6.99 option whose period it does not state; Professional, up to 15 children, $14.99. Seven-day trial; after it, entries are read-only without a subscription. | One household plan from $6/mo (or $60/yr), with Baby Log and every other app in the library. A nanny joins as a guest at no extra cost. 30-day free trial with no card. |
| Who one payment covers | One subscription is valid across all devices and every family member and caregiver linked to the child. | The household plan covers its members, and a nanny or sitter joins as a guest with no seat to pay for. Everyone logs and messages on that one plan. |
| How a caregiver gets in | Invited from the child's profile with Add parent/caregiver; each caregiver creates their own Baby Connect account with the invited email or an invitation code. No limit on how many. | A partner is a household member. A nanny or sitter is a guest with their own login, invited from the Guests screen, who sees only the apps you grant. |
| Ending access | Its pages describe no way to give a caregiver access for a set time, or to limit what one caregiver sees. | A guest's access lasts up to a year at a time and ends by itself, or the moment an admin presses End now. Everything they logged stays. |
| Messaging | Caregivers can exchange messages with each other inside the app. | A parent can open a message thread with the nanny, who replies in it; a guest cannot start a thread or read the household-wide one. The shift's handoff note is the written handover. |
| Shifts & hours | Its pages describe no shift or hours log. | The nanny starts a shift on arrival and ends it with what was done and a handoff note the next person reads first. The Shifts tab totals each person's hours for the week. |
| What it tracks | Feeds, nursing, solids, pumping, sleep, diapers and potty, medicine, vaccines, temperature, milestones, photos and diary, and growth against CDC and WHO percentiles, with timers, alarms and charts. | Feeds (breast, bottle or solids), pumping with amounts, diapers, naps with a running sleep timer, and notes, for more than one baby, with a daily summary and a searchable log. No growth charts, temperature, vaccines, charts or feed reminders. Medicine doses, with a nudge at each dose time and an alert when one is late, are kept in Medication Tracker on the same plan. |
| Export | Custom CSV or HTML reports sent by email, to share with a pediatrician or keep. | The household's data export, from settings at any time, includes the whole log as machine-readable files. No CSV and no pediatrician report. Entries expire after two years. |
| Devices | iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple Watch and a web app, with Siri and Alexa. | iPhone, Android and the web. No watch app and no voice logging. |
| Privacy | Its privacy policy says it will not rent or sell potentially personally identifying information to third-party companies for their commercial or marketing use. Its App Store privacy label lists contact info, user content, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics as linked to you. | Each household's data lives in its own encrypted database. No ads and no data selling. |
| Beyond the baby | Baby and child tracking. The same company sells Daily Connect, a separate app for daycare centres. | Over 100 installable household apps on the same plan. For a nanny on the care team, Medication Tracker shows the medicines you mark for them to tick each dose as given, and tells you when a dose is still unticked thirty minutes late; Health Cards shows the baby's allergy and doctor card, read-only; Milestones keeps the firsts; and Routines runs bedtime, and Expense Splitter keeps the nanny's pay. |

Or step back from both: every baby tracker compared, by how each one shares the log.
When Baby Connect is the right call
If you want the most complete shared tracker — growth percentiles, vaccines, temperature, charts and reports — Baby Connect tracks far more than our log, on more devices: an Apple Watch app, Siri and an Alexa skill, which help a caregiver whose hands are full. It also reaches past the household: its Professional plan covers up to 15 children, and its sister app, Daily Connect, is built for daycare centres.
When there is a nanny
A nanny's job has a start, an end and a handover. We built for that: a guest login that ends on the day the job does, a shift with a handoff note, the week's hours, and nothing else of the household's in view. See working with a nanny for how the guest login, the shift log and the care team fit together.
Moving from Baby Connect
Your Baby Connect history cannot be imported. Export it as CSV or HTML from its reports before your subscription ends. Then install Baby Log, add the baby, and invite the nanny as a guest with Baby Log granted. See the Baby Log page for what it logs.
The feature list is not fixed
Every other product on this page is a fixed set of features: it does what it does, and a need it did not anticipate gets a no. Chickadee Bandit is built from small apps, and a household can add one of its own. An admin describes the app in a paragraph on the Apps page and the hub builds and installs it, using the AI credits that come with every plan; someone who writes code can start from any of the open-source apps and install their own version from a URL. A custom app gets the same checks as the ones we ship: it declares what it reads and writes, keeps its data in your household's own database, and the hub refuses anything it did not ask for.
