Kids' accounts
Children belong to the household like everyone else, with the grown-up parts kept for adults.

Turn on child accounts
A new household starts with everyone as an adult. To add children, an admin goes to Settings → General, finds Member Roles, and turns on Enable parent / child mode.
Add a child
- Open your household's members page from the top of the menu and add a member.
- Set Role to child.
- Decide on the email. With one, an invite link is made when you save, and your child creates their own sign-in with it (the link lasts 72 hours). Leave it empty and the child is managed by the adults, with no sign-in of their own.
A child without an email can still tick off chores, check routines and mark things done on a family tablet with a PIN. An admin sets it under Settings → Shared Devices → Kiosk PINs: four to six digits, and easy ones like 1234 or 1111 aren't allowed. A child who signs in sets their own PIN under Account & Security. See shared tablet setup to pair the tablet.
What a child can't do
A child is a full member of the household, but can't:
- be a household admin, or change billing,
- connect an AI assistant, or use Chat with Chickadee,
- create or manage share links,
- change SOS contacts or safe zones, or
- spend AI credits building an app.
What a child sees in apps
Each app decides. An admin can make an app adults only, and many apps keep some records for adults, such as health details and other people's medications, even when a child can use the rest of the app. Adults can see other members' entries where an app allows it. Children see their own, and what's shared with everyone. To change who uses an app, an admin opens Apps and clicks it on the Installed tab.
Child, guest or adult?
- Child: part of the household for good, with the limits above.
- Guest: someone from outside, such as a sitter, who sees only the apps you choose for up to 30 days at a time and is treated like a child inside them. A guest can't become a member: remove them and send a regular invite instead. See guest access.
- Adult: everything a member can do, and admin rights if you give them.
When a child grows up
Nothing changes on a birthday by itself. When you're ready, an admin edits the member and changes Role to adult. In a co-parenting Space, changing a child's role needs the other parent to approve it.
