Borrow the car, agree the terms, both sign
Request to borrow items from family members with agreed return conditions, dates, and consequences. Both parties must agree before the request is locked.
What Borrowing does
Lending inside a family goes wrong at the edges: when is it due back, and what happens if it comes back broken? This app makes the request explicit and requires both people to agree before it counts.
Edit anything after approval and the agreement resets for re-approval. The history of active, pending, and past agreements stays for the next time.
How it works
- Requests carry the item, the return date, and agreed consequences.
- Two-party approval: lender and borrower both confirm.
- Any edit resets the agreement and requires re-approval.
- Alerts when an agreement is reached or an item is returned.
- Full history of active, pending, and past agreements.

Works well with
Guides that use Borrowing
- Giving a teenager more freedom without losing the thread — Independence arrives in negotiated steps. How to write each step down once, so the same argument is not had every weekend and the record is not anyone's memory.
- Knowing what the household owns, and letting the rest of it go — Decluttering stalls at the decision, not the sorting. How to make letting go a household choice, and how to know what is in the freezer and on the card.
- Living with roommates: bills, chores, groceries and guests without the resentment — A shared house as one household: a running balance for bills, a chore rotation nobody has to police, one grocery list, guest rules, and clear borrowing terms.

Borrowing is one of the apps in the Chickadee Bandit library. Every household starts nearly empty and installs only what it uses; there is no per-app charge. Your data lives in your household's own private, encrypted database, with no ads and no data selling. Browse the Family apps or read the source on GitHub.
