A home inventory for insurance, and for finding the good scissors

A searchable record of your possessions for insurance and everyday use: photo, serial number, value, and — most usefully — where each item lives. Names and locations are searchable, so you can always find where you put things.

What Home Inventory does

The unglamorous app you are grateful for exactly once: a claim, a move, or the afternoon you cannot find the thing you know you put somewhere. Every item records a photo, make and model, serial number, purchase date, value, and, most usefully, where it lives.

Names, locations, categories, and serials are searchable across the whole house. Every change to an item's value is kept, so you have a defensible record of what something was worth and when.

How it works

  • Photo, serial number, make and model, purchase date, and value per item.
  • Location is front and center, so the inventory doubles as a where-did-we-put-it finder.
  • Search across item names, locations, categories, and serial numbers.
  • Group the catalog by location or by category.
  • Append-only valuation history for insurance claims.
  • Adults maintain the inventory; everyone in the household can search it.

Who it's for
